External ECU for upgrading Peugeot & Citroen (PSA) fan without ECU.

This electronic control unit (ECU) is designed for upgrading of the electronic fan, on which there is no ECU, in order for this fan to become a replacement for a fan that is designed to work with ECUs.

Scheme and features of external ECU connection:

External (separate remote) ECU (electronic control unit) for Peugeot, Citroen (PSA Peugeot Citroen) fans since 2002, which can be installed on almost any fan that does not have an ECU.

Cooling is carried out by blowing the aluminum base of the ECU board with air flow from the fan blades.
A universal mount with many holes, included with the ECU, that can be bent and cut anywhere that allows you to install this ECU anywhere and how you want, the main thing is that the aluminum base is on the side of the cooling blades.
If there are a lot of stiffening ribs in the fan casing that are located very often, which does not leave the possibility of ECU location, you can safely remove one rib to place the ECU. In any case, it is not necessary to move the ECU block away from the fan, otherwise this will affect cooling, which will lead to severe overheating and significantly reduce the service life.
The ECU must be positioned so that the coil does not rest against the radiator, but at the same time that the impeller does not cling to the ECU mount and / or the ECU itself. The mounting included in the kit allows you to do this.

In what cases can I use this external (remote) ECU for Peugeot, Citroen fans:

There were cases when people ordered a new Chinese fan with an ECU by VIN number, and they received a regular fan without an ECU which was good in size for installing. The price for such a “new Chinese” fan was about 70-80$. In these cases people purchased from us a new external ECU for $100 with a 1 year warranty and installed it on this Chinese fan. These are the cases when people prove that you can buy a new Chinese fan with an ECU for PSA for less than 100$, but in the end they are wrong.
In cases when there is no native non-working fan or the native fan is severely damaged, the winding is burned out and it is not possible to restore it by replacing the ECU. In such situations people found a normal working fan for Peugeot, Citroen without an ECU for 20-30$ or a non-working for 10$ in which brushes are worn off. As a rule, fans without an ECU are the same size and mounting as those with an ECU.And if they aren’t, then there are craftsmen who make it so that everything suits. And now our new ECU is installed on this fan using a universal mount. As a result a person gets a fan with a new ECU with 1 year guarantee at the cost of the fan + ECU = about 130$
